📣 Hospital Sector Arbitration Decision Update

"As we heard from leaders, members, the negotiating team and ONA counsel, the arbitration decision that was released on Wednesday, September 3 by Arbitrator Sheri Price is an utter disgrace. We called it a betrayal of our 60,000 hospital sector members of the right to meaningful collective bargaining.
See our media release here: ONA condemns hospital arbitration decision as a betrayal of 60,000 nurses and meaningful collective bargaining.
We held a hospital sector meeting on Friday, September 5, welcoming more than 1,300 members, following a dedicated briefing for leaders earlier that day. We heard loud and clear the frustration, anger and appetite for change. After more that 15 years without a negotiated agreement, real wages for hospital members today are below what they were then, and it’s clear the system is failing us.
Instead of a collective agreement with the OHA, we now have a collective disagreement.
While we consider next steps for challenging this injustice, we have produced several documents to help members better understand Arbitrator Price’s decision.
- Arbitrator Price decision.
- Highlight document of the Price decision.
- Draft hospital provincial collective agreement.
- Recording of the member sector meeting.
As always, these documents and resources on our website at ona.org/bargaining.
Stay tuned for more."
